Randy's Remember U |

“Randy’s Remember U” began in the Fall of 2009 to assist bereaved children and families in McHenry County.
It is funded by The Randy Salerno Foundation and through donations and corporate support, enabling the program to be free for families.

Staffed by bereavement counselors from Hospice of Northeastern Illinois and trained volunteers, the program meets monthly at space generously donated by Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal Lake.
|

Each month’s program is different but the goals for the children and their families remain the same:
- Integrate the reality of their loss and the impact it may have on their lives
- Recognize and reinforce healthy coping strategies for dealing with grief and loss
- Identify and alleviate any unresolved grief issues.
- Capture and express memories of the person who died
- Verbalize feelings of guilt or anger which may be inhibiting the grief process
- Gain a better understanding of the physical, emotional and spiritual aspects of the grief process
- Learn to incorporate loss into daily life and plan for the future
“Randy’s Remember U” is the first of its kind in McHenry County.
